Anthony Toner plus support

Acclaimed Northern Ireland songwriter Anthony Toner makes a return to Glasgow, having developed a loyal following in the city and throughout Scotland.

Based in Belfast, he returns following a busy year of live shows across Northern Ireland and the wider UK. Anthony has spent the last ten years developing a growing following in Scotland and England, thanks in part to his continued role as special guest of folk legend Barbara Dickson on her acoustic tours and, more recently, in folk clubs and venues across Scotland under this own name.

Songs like 'Sailortown', ‘East of Louise’ and 'The Road to Fivemiletown', have made him one of Belfast's most revered singer-songwriters and guitarists, and he has 15 albums under his belt. Blessed with a terrific acoustic fingerstyle technique, he also brings some superb and hilarious stories from the road, and songs loaded with heart, warmth and insight.

Toner often peppers his set with well-chosen covers, some old Irish tunes, the occasional blues selection, and if the mood is right, even the odd rendition of a favourite poem from some of Ireland's most revered writers. A true master of live performance, it goes without saying that he's delighted to be on his way back to one of his favourite cities.
